Postgrads are, more often than not, looking into a specific area in depth. The knowledge, algorythms and IP created are only as good as the uses found for them. While studying postgrads are heavily entrenched in their project and consequently seldom have time, or are taught, to think of potential applications of their IP.
Young British Entrepreneur runs courses that ensure that postgrads are aware of the potential for their knowledge and ensures that they are subconsciously always thinking of potential applications that may be profitable.
This has positive ramifications for both the University, its commercial relations and its tech transfer department.
